About
Alison D’Auria was born and raised in Nyack, New York and grew up in a rambling Victorian that shaped the way she looked at all homes from then on. Living just 20 miles north of New York City provided all the comforts of the small town quaintness while exposing her to the urban culture and artistic diversities available in Manhattan.
Alison attended Salve Regina University in Newport, R.I. Her classes were held in the former estates bequeathed to the university and are what made the institution’s campus so exceptional. Inspired by these marvelous architectural structures that once served as the “summer cottages” to the Glided Age’s elite, Alison spent numerous days researching and exploring these and other gorgeous mansions by the sea, in particular studying the period detail of their interiors. She enjoyed a semester abroad studying art and architecture at American University of Rome. Her time in Europe personally deepened her appreciation of Renaissance, Baroque, Rococo, and Art Nouveau elements of design.
After obtaining her B.S. in Business Administration in 2006, she went on to receive her diploma in Interior Residential Design from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale in 2007. While residing in Southern Florida Alison focused on Deco and Mid-Century Modernism design elements. While attending AI, she started her interior decorating company, Alison D’Auria Interiors, Inc. Since 2007, ADI, Inc. has completed projects in Florida, Massachusetts, New York and Rhode Island.
Alison currently resides in Newport, R.I. where she continues her design work and enjoys independent research for the Preservation Society.
